Only ten ROM cartridge titles were ever released, although others were planned but never completed due to the lack of demand for software in ROM cartridge format. The first cartridges released about September/October 1983 and were the Psion titles Planetoids, Backgammon and Space Raiders. These were followed a couple of months later by Chess, and then the remaining six titles in December 1983. Sinclair Research Ltd did produce another ROM cartridge title which was a System Test cartridge for use in diagnosing faults was a Spectrum system, but this was only available to service centres. Parker Brothers produced a range of prototype cartridges but these were never released. However, it is possible to construct new custom cartridges for use with the ZX Interface 2. This section describes a range of methods for creating custom ROM cartridges, and the range of PCBs I have produced to demostrate some of these techniques. It is followed by sections that present new ROM cartridge programs for use with these PCBs. These programs have been tested with the various UK released Spectrum models but might also work on modified versions that were released overseas. I have a number of these PCBs available for purchase, and can also supply ready assembled, cased and programmed cartridges.
